He got the boot!

Normally, when children have their 1st birthdays but are not yet walking, they remain in the infant room. Well, not my son. Last night, I left them at church for a couple of hours to run a few errands. When I went to the room to pick up Tyler, I was advised that he was moved to the one (1) year old class.

Not that I care. But the reason he was moved was because he threw goldfish and Nana Paula and then clunked a baby on her head. Really Bubba? Did it have to be my son that threw goldfish? I can already see I have a lot of work to do with this one.

But all the workers told me that he did great holding his own in that classroom. Perhaps being in the one (1) year old class with all the walkers will give him the initiative to start walking. I have figured out the only reason he doesn't walk is because he gets to his destination faster by crawling.

BFFs

Yesterday was Olivia's birthday. She turned 4 years old. I was at work but they enjoyed the day with pizza and games at Chuck 'e' cheese.

On Thursday evening, I picked up the kids and Olivia was out enjoying a day with her grandparents. Lorie, Olivia's mother, sent a text message saying Olivia missed Taylor and wanted me to bring her over so they could play. This was at 8 or 9 at night. Imagine that when they are together for at least 10 hours a day 5 days a week!

They are really cute. I am looking for to them growing up together. They will be attending pre-school together in the fall. They are no longer in the same class at church because the 3 and 4 years olds are in separate classrooms.

Enjoying Simplicity

Watching the kids play this afternoon was very interesting. Tyler is quite the boy trying to hold his ground. NyCee is careful when she plays with him until he pulls her hair then she gets mad and yells, "Mom, buddy pulled my hair." To which I reply, "Bubba, do not pull your sister's hair please."

We enjoyed a day of rest at home all day. It was great. NyCee woke up at dawn's early light but Tyler and I slept until about 8:00a. It was nice.

For the past several weeks, I have managed to keep my son from playing in the toliet. I am not sure why this is a facination for boys but it is. Today, he beat me to the punch. NyCee said, "I need to go potty." I replied, "Go potty." The bathroom door, as with all other doors, generally remain shut. Well, Tyler saw the door open and crawled at the chance to get to the bathroom.

When I walked in the bathroom to check on NyCee, what do my shocked eyes find: Tyler playing with the toliet water while NyCee is sitting on the toliet! Thankfully, she had not yet made a deposit. I asked NyCee why didn't she tell me buddy was playing in the toliet. She just smiled and laughed.

Tumbling Taylor

NyCee attends dance class on Thursday afternoons. The couple who owns the studio attends my church and takes good care of NyCee while she is there. Charles, the owner, told me NyCee is often behind the front counter helping him and telling him what is happening in the classrooms by looking at the screens.

Ever since conquering her flipping fear, (I make her shout "No fear here" when she is apprehensive about trying something new) she is a flipping machine. She has been practicing and has almost perfected her tumble.

She makes it over in a perfect ball.

And stands right up to take a bow, exclaiming, "Thank you, Thank you everybody. Thank you."

A Slight Change of Wording

NyCee has decided to change the words of the prayer she prays before eating her food:

"Open and shut them, open and shut them (motions with the hands),
Give a little clap, clap, clap."

"Open and shut them, open and shut them,
place them in your lap, lap, lap."

"Thank you God, Thank you God for our" (what should be food), NyCee has changed to fit whatever she is eating. So whenever she eats, it is "Thank you God for my granola bar or my fruit snacks or my chicken, greens beans, and pasta, or my chips, or my milk." You get the point.

Yesterday, she stopped in the middle and said, "Mommy, what's this?" Pointing to her dinner. I replied, "Sheppard's pie." "Thank you God, Thank you God for my Sheppard's pie."

And then continued with the song:
"All of us together, all of us together.
Thank you God, Thank you God
In Jesus Name we pray, AMEN!"

I envision Jesus cracking up laughing everytime she prays over her packet of fruit snacks.

Philippians 4:5-7 (New Living Translation)
5 Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.

6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus

Pantsless

Many people have told me, "Every child is different" when I make comments about how Tyler is versus how NyCee was at this age. Tyler is busy and that is putting it mildly. Some times, I feel like all I say is, "Son, no. Son, stop. Bubba, don't touch." But lately, he has kicked it up a notch.

He likes to attempt to play in the toilet, open cabinets and drawers, throw the contents of said cabinet or drawer onto the floor, and then stand up and clap as if he did something good.

Now, in contrast to his sister, he actually sleeps in the crib. NyCee would have nothing to do with the crib. Tyler will play by himself with his toys, play with his feet, sing, whatever. But tonight, he was screaming his head off because he wanted another bottle of milk. Generally, I do not give in to him in the middle of a tantrum. The tantrum must pass and then he can get whatever he is wanting. I.e, cup of milk, toy, etc.

But tonight, I had some school work to finish and I am just tired so I poured another cup of milk and took it to the room. When I turned on the light, I see his pajama pants on the floor. I had to pause for a moment and try to figure out how his pants got off his bottom and onto floor. I asked NyCee if Bubba took off his pants, and she just laughed.

My son is 13 months old and figured out how to remove his pants, reach over the top of the crib and throw them onto the floor. What will he think of next?

Direct your children onto the right path and when they are older, they will not leave it.

Not a whole lot to tell

I thought I would just provide a brief update. We are just living and enjoying life. I am back in school working on a second master's degree until I start my doctoral program in September.

NyCee is quite the talky Taylor. She is really developing and growing.

Tyler is standing on his own. No steps yet but I am sure they are soon to follow.

Mother's day was quiet. The kids and I attended church, came home, had dinner and just played. It was a really good day.

The weather has been warm. It was in the low triple digits most of last week. Thank God the triple digits didn't hit until May as you know I do not turn on the a/c before May. However, I live in AZ so there are times when exceptions must be made. Especially when my three (3) year old exclaims, "Mommy, I sweating" after taking a bath.

Alone He Stands

We are one step closer to actual movement. He can stand himself straight up from the sitting position.

In Need of Repair

I will be having my computer repaired over the next couple of days. It is absolutely amazing to me how much we never miss an item until it is gone. I am scrambling trying to complete anything which requires my computer. I had to move all my the files because basically the computer will be rebuilt. That is a good thing but hopefully, I didn't forget anything.

Psalm 32:11 (Amplified Bible)

Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you [uncompromisingly] righteous [you who are upright and in right standing with Him]; shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
